Kinetic Chain Release (KCR)
What is Kinetic Chain Release (KCR)?

KCR is a unique and extremely effective system of mobilisations and stretches, developed by Scottish Physiotherapist Hugh Gilbert. It's a scientifically proven, twenty-three step protocol of mobilisations and stretches that quickly and effectively shortens injury and recovery time, releases a multitude of aches and pains and rebalances the body - fast!
Often clients come to me for massage, Reiki etc as they are in chronic pain, or are suffering from pain in one specific area (often, due to an injury or trauma, or even a slight knock).
However, the body is an interconnected network. If one part is 'out' then all parts are 'out' leading to all kinds of problems. Where you feel the pain, may not be the source of the issue.
There is a thin web-like layer of fascia tissue under the skin that connects our whole body. This amazing system can switch form to protect the body. When we receive trauma or injury, the fascia tissue contracts to protect that area of the body from further impact. Without treatment, that fascia tissue can stay restricted and can lead to imbalances and pain in the body.

KCR focuses on gentle but effective joint mobilisations and deep muscle stretches to bring the whole body back into alignment - so we don't just work on the area of pain. This corrects any leg length difference and will alleviate pain. It can also release energy blockages as it is a holistic treatment too.
Who can benefit from Kinetic Chain Release (KCR)?
Everyone from the very young to the aged.

This treatment can be beneficial to those suffering from injuries, chronic pain, etc.

What are the benefits of Kinetic Chain Release (KCR)?
The KCR protocol quickly brings bodies back into balance, alleviating problems such as weak ankles, knee problems, hip and joint pain, pelvic discomforts, back, shoulder and neck pain, RSI and headaches. The rapid restorative effects of bringing the body back into balance quickly restores energy levels.
What happens during a KCR Treatment?

During your KCR session, we will work together to perform a series of mobilisations and stretches. These will take place either on my treatment bed or a chair.
You will be fully clothed at all times. You should wear comfortable clothing which allows you to stretch and move easily (no jeans/bulky trousers or spaghetti strap vest tops etc).
I will then take you through the full KCR protocol which starts and ends with me measuring your leg length difference.
The protocol will not hurt you or aggravate any current ailments you have. It will bring your body back into balance, increase your energy levels and bring relief from chronic pain
Contra-indications and cautions
Some scenarios are contra-indicated and KCR cannot be carried out:

-
After the First Trimester in a pregnancy, or if there have been any difficulties in conception or pregnancy.

-
If you have Osteogenesis imperfecta. Osteoporosis is not contraindicated but the procedure might be gentle and within the persons limitations.

Cautions

-
If you had had a recent stroke within the last 12 months, then get GP/consultant clearance before proceeding.
-
If you have recently had surgery and are still under care of surgeon/ consultant you should get clearance from your surgeon/ consultant before proceeding.
As with most of my treatments, GP written consent may be required for treatment to proceed for some ailments/conditions.

How long will treatment last?

On the initial session we will go through a Consultation process to determine what your primary complaint, any other complaints, activity levels etc are.
The protocols themselves take around 30-45 mins, although may take longer depending on your current issues, and mobility etc.
How many treatments will I need?

Some clients experience relief from one session, whilst others will benefit more from having two or three.

Some clients come at regular intervals for maintenance, especially if they take part regularly in sports, have physical jobs, etc. I get this treatment myself regularly for maintenance to help me stay aligned for my job, and with all the walking, weight lifting etc I do.
Some clients visit before taking part in sporting events or competitions to ensure they are at the peak of their game when competing.
What is the cost?
£55 per treatment
