Certain medical conditions are contra-indicated for specific treatments and means you may not be allowed to receive these treatments or you may need written confirmation from your medical professional that treatment can go ahead. Other medical conditions may require a treatment to be restricted or adapted.
​
Please note my massage bed weight capacity is 159kg/ 25 stone, therefore, I cannot treat any clients over that limit for safety reasons.
Please see the treatments below along with the contra-indications and cautions. If in doubt, please speak to your health professional (GP, nurse, consultant etc) to determine whether or not you can have a treatment.
Massage

Conditions completely contra-indicated:

acute infectious diseases;
-
skin/scalp infections (including impetigo, boils, ringworm, scabies, lice);
-
shingles;
-
deep vein thrombosis;
-
client undertaking chemotherapy or radiotherapy;
-
recent haemorrhage;
-
intoxication

There are other contra-indications that may restrict treatment. Treatment may be able to proceed but be adapted or carried out avoiding certain body parts. These will be discussed during consultation
GP written consent may be required for treatment to proceed for some ailments/conditions. This is required for insurance purposes.

​Oncology Massage (massage for those living with cancer)
​
Light relaxing massage can be safely given to people at all stages of cancer. However, there are some cautions to be noted:

Radiotherapy sites should be avoided for 6 weeks after treatment has finished to avoid discomfort, and no massage should be performed over the area until any redness has settled
-
Cancer patients should not have massage to areas where there skin is broken, bleeding or bruised.
-
People with cancer should avoid very deep or vigorous massage.
-
After surgery, no massage should be given until the area has fully healed.

Kinetic Chain Release

Conditions completely contra-indicated:

After first trimester in pregnancy (i.e. after 12 weeks)

If you have osteogenesis imperfecta

Cautions
-
​​If you had had a recent stroke within the last 12 months, then get GP/consultant clearance before proceeding.

If you have recently had surgery and are still under care of surgeon/ consultant you should get clearance from your surgeon/ consultant before proceeding.​

Holistic Facial

Conditions completely contra-indicated:
-
acute infectious diseases;
-
skin infections (including impetigo, boils, ringworm, scabies, lice);
-
shingles;
-
client undertaking chemotherapy or radiotherapy;
-
recent haemorrhage;
-
intoxication;
-
high temperature or fever;
-
recent scar tissue
-
Recent botox or fillers (you must wait at least 7 days after having these).

Natural Lift Facial Massage/Facial Rejuvenation

This would not be suitable for clients:

who have had facial procedures such as botox/fillers in the previous 3 weeks;

with weeping psoriasis/eczema;
-
with acute infectious diseases;
-
with skin infections (including impetigo, boils, ringworm, scabies, lice);
-
with shingles;
-
with high temperature or fever;
-
with recent scar tissue;
-
within first trimester of pregnancy

Energy Healing (including Biofield Sound Healing Therapy)
​
Biofield Sound/Tuning Therapy would not be suitable for clients:
​
-
undertaking cancer treatments
-
with a pacemaker
-
who are pregnant

Indian Head Massage/Scalp and Face Massage
​

Scalp/Head massage not suitable for those with hair extensions as the oils may adversely affect the extensions and the massage may loosen them.

skin/scalp infections;

recent haemorrhage;

intoxication;

present migraine;
-
recent head or neck injury

Conditions that may be contra-indicated (discuss with therapist):

severe circulatory disorders/heart conditions;

thrombosis/embolism;
-
high/low blood pressure;
-
dysfunction of nervous system;
-
epilepsy;
-
diabetes;
-
cancer;
-
recent surgery/operations;
-
osteoporosis
